Family Support

Prospect Hospice employs three social workers, who work closely with patients, families, our own care team and other healthcare professionals.

Our social workers offer emotional, social and practical support to patients and their carers.

How can our Family Support Team help?

There are a wide range of issues our social workers can help with. These include:

• Assessing patients in their own homes, exploring what type of practical help and support they feel they need to enable them to remain at home
• Supporting patients and families as they return home after a stay in the In-patient Unit
• Helping patients and families apply for benefits
• Offering bereavement support to children and families

Using special skills, our social workers also work with patients who are parents to young children, and help them to understand what is happening.
