Prospect Hospice: Making each day count Prospect Hospice

Day Hospice

Our Day Hospice is situated within the main Hospice building, and is open each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Most of our patients attend once a week, sharing their experiences, taking part in a range of activities and benefiting from the support of our specialist staff and volunteers.

What happens at Day Hospice?

Our Day Hospice recognises that each person's needs will be different, and provides a range of supportive and social activities to reflect this.  Some of the activities patients are able to enjoy include:

  • Relaxation
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Games and quizzes
  • Music therapy
  • Gardening
  • Art therapy
  • Creative writing
  • Complementary therapies

Day Hospice isn’t only about activities, it is also an opportunity for patients to socialise and share experiences with other people in a similar situation within a friendly and relaxed environment.

Patients also benefit from the opportunity to meet with and talk to our specialist staff, including nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, social workers and our occupational therapist, who are available to assess and help patients as well as answer any questions or deal with any concerns they may have.

What are the benefits of Day Hospice?

Day Hospice also offers its patients:

  • Practical and emotional support
  • The chance to rebuild their confidence
  • A friendly and relaxed atmosphere in which to discuss their concerns
  • Respite for families and carers

How is a patient referred to Day Hospice?

Patients are referred to the Day Hospice by their Prospect Nurse Specialist. They will then meet our Day Hospice Sister, who will discuss their indivdual needs in more detail.
